Meyers Leonard, a professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers, was cast many misfortunes in his youth. Between losing his father at the age of six and his mother unable to work due to debilitating back issues, Meyers and his brother, Bailey, grew up learning to appreciate life's smallest gifts. From sleeping on the floor to no running water, the brothers were determined to turn the tables.
For Meyers, basketball acted as his light at the end of the tunnel. While his brother, Bailey, enrolled into the United States Marine Corps and served for two tours in Afghanistan.
Wrapping up his 6th year in the NBA, Meyers has had time to reflect on his formative years. Looking back, he sees some incredible blessings.
